Thomas, Jones and Batten are a partnership concerned with community, organisational and personal development. Our methodology is based upon building capacity by supporting participating organisations/groups to design and implement their own solutions.
Thomas, Jones & Batten introduce a structured approach to planning a specific project or event for an existing or newly formed organisation/group. We draw key organising members from the organisation/group to attend a training programme on project development: the project itself would be the work in progress. The benefits of this simple format would be (a) a more successful project/event and (b) the skills learnt (communicating, marketing, reporting, budgeting: internal team-working mechanisms) would be transferred to and retained by the group. In short, for example, if it was appropriate we would show a group how to write their own feasibility study and/or business plan instead of simply producing a document for them.
Thomas, Jones and Batten believe that, in order to ensure that communities, organisations and agencies understand the needs of their stakeholders, the stakeholders must actively participate in the process of analysing those needs. We design bespoke programmes of stakeholder participation and use tools and techniques that are internationally recognised and have been developed for participatory appraisal of communities.
