Tenant Empowerment Grant (TEG) programme – important changes

CIH Cymru has managed the Welsh Assembly Government’s TEG programme since it was set up to give grant funding direct to tenants groups in 2004. During the past six years 120 tenant groups the length and breadth of Wales have received TEG funding to carry out a staggerring range of projects. Sometime in 2010 total TEG funding will pass the £1 million pound mark. By any benchmark the programme has been a resounding success.

Of course pressure on all publicly funded projects is increasing and for some time now we have been discussing with WAG about the potential implications for the TEG programme in particular. The indications are that the programme will reduce from £150,000 in 2009/10 to £128,500 in 2010/11, but we have agreed with WAG that despite the reduction in the programme the over riding aims must be to ensure its continutation and maximise the funding available to groups.

We are therefore introducing the following changes from the first ‘bidding round’ of 2010/11 (deadline for applications is the 30/04/10)
